***Internal opportunity for Chemeketa Community College faculty only***
Chemeketa Press invites CCC faculty to apply now for a Summer 2019 Faculty Writing Fellowship. Participants in the fellowship will spend eight weeks (June 24 to August 17, 2019) exploring the art of textbook writing in a hybrid format with regular face-to-face meetings. Participants will generate book outlines, learn best practices for writing to student audiences, revise open-source materials, provide feedback to peers, and write actual textbook chapters of their own.
Here’s the kind of projects you can expect to work on:
- Creating a book outline
- Revising OER (Open Educational Resource) material
- Providing feedback on colleagues’ writing
- Drafting chapters of a textbook
- Research on textbook writing and student reading trends
Ideal candidates should have a specific course-related writing project in mind and be able to commit approximately 7 hours a week for the summer term. Professional development outcomes include increased writing productivity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and substantial progress on a textbook project of their choosing. Applicants selected for this fellowship will receive a $500 stipend on completion. Faculty support will be provided a Chemeketa Press editor.
